I initiated a textile project inspired by the weaving traditions of the Bariba people of Benin, whose art imbues fabric with symbolic meaning and emotion. Drawing on this heritage, I designed emotion-based labels using eco-friendly cotton and handwoven techniques, partnering with nine textile producers to find the right collaborator. The first edition featured the phrase “Gɔ́mɔ́ sì́i tánna fɔ̀nɲɛ́ mi màrà kʊ́lɔw” (“Though borders are closed, this thread carries on”), highlighting the enduring power of culture and art.
